Why Selling Doesn’t Work But Giving Does
One of the most common blocks many heart-centered business owners face is not knowing how to ‘sell’ in a way that feels good and gets clients. Does this ring true for you?
Are you someone who finds all sorts of things to do rather than pick up the phone, follow up leads or invite people to buy your services?
Yet a basic principle of business success is selling enough of your products/services to generate the cash and lifestyle you’d love. But how do you do this if you hate the idea of ‘selling’ and this is holding you back?
If you feel this way, conventional marketing strategies will not be enough and may even be losing you business – especially if you either avoid taking action or not come across as being comfortable doing so. Thankfully there’s another option – strategic giving could be your key to success.
Most people like to give to or help others, so why not make this the core of how you market your business? Likewise many people like to support causes close to their heart. If giving could grow your business quicker by giving rather than selling would you do it?
Because my heart has been captured by those I support in Rwanda, fundraising is often at the forefront of my mind. And since I’ve chosen to link my fundraising to my business, I’ve discovered that these fundraising activities not only raise cash for the charity, they also generate more work, income and business opportunities for me too. Even if you don’t support a charity just now, there are many ways to give to others instead of selling, that will result business coming to you.
Helping others first rather than ‘selling’ to them is a critical aspect of business success that is missed by so many people – whether this is with potential clients or business associates. And when done well, linking your support of a charity to your business is a great way to stand out and attract more business.
