It’s Good To Stop & Enjoy Yourself
I love how when I come back from Rwanda I’m always in an emotional and physical state of what I call ‘Rwandan Gratitude’ – I have a comfy bed, electricity, hot water to shower in, nice food and many other comforts I usually take for granted.
In Rwanda things often don’t go as we plan or would like. And in these times we find that miracles unfold when we surrender any attachment we have to desired outcomes and become more fully present in the moment – and especially when we sing and dance with our young ambassadors!
Being away also makes me realise the extent to which my life, and particularly the way I spend my time, is aligned (or not) to what’s important to me. In this state of ‘Rwandan Gratitude’ I feel more peace and connection to the true essence of who I am, to those important to me and to nature. I’m also more aware that I can allow myself to be distracted by the hype of what ‘needs’ to be done.
In business this is often driven by a need for ‘more’ – to help more people, to get more clients, to earn more money, to product more products, to get more social media ‘likes’ or ‘followers’. And while having goals to work towards are a good thing, it’s also important to STOP and enjoy moments of ‘being’ versus ‘doing’.
Since I’ve got back I’m eager to extend this blissful way of being and I’ve been much better at taking time out my business and focussing on enjoying myself – meditating, walking, seeing friends and family and doing what makes me feel good. I’ve also been setting daily intentions for the right solutions to present themselves to me, rather than me needing to spend so much time searching for them – personally and in my work.
Today I’m feeling grateful for great weekend enjoying the outdoors in the Scottish Highlands with my gorgeous hubby and for the fantastic people have contacted me about exciting opportunities to collaborate and support one another.
So this week I invite you to take some time out from ‘doing’ in your business – to reflect on what you’re grateful for, to have some fun and reach out to those you’ve not seen for a while.
