It’s obviously important to acknowledge how you’re honestly feeling in the present moment. But, a prolonged negative mindset and emotional triggers will sabotage your health and happiness. Conversely, cultivating a positive mindset can significantly transform your life. As does focusing on what you can do versus what you can’t.

Negative thoughts and feelings that could be hindering your recovery:

  • I don’t think I’ll ever get better
  • I’m suffering from chronic fatigue
  • I’m struggling with chronic fatigue
  • My recovery is taking forever
  • Chronic fatigue isn’t a real illness
  • I don’t feel I’m getting any better
  • I’m fed up with being ill
  • I feel my life is on hold
  • I thought I was getting better
  • I can’t imagine feeling better
  • I feel I’m missing out on life
  • I don’t know how to get better
  • There’s no cure for chronic fatigue
  • I’m only up a few hours a day
  • I run out of steam by the evening
  • I feel down/frustrated/disappointed/lonely/bored
  • I don’t have the support I need
  • I feel bad letting people down
  • I can’t afford to stop working and rest
  • I feel guilty taking time out to recover
  • I feel like a failure/fraud
  • There’s nothing wrong with me other than I’m tired
  • I can’t justify time off work/my business

Can you relate to any of these?

If yes, use techniques like affirmations, eft/tapping, NLP, or self-hypnosis to re-program your mind and adopt a recovery mindset.

Which of the above healing affirmations could become a mantra for your recovery?

How could you incorporate healing affirmations into your daily life?

Using healing affirmations to aid your recovery

First, identify the negative thought or emotions you want to change.

Create or choose a healing affirmation that reflects how you’d prefer to think or feel. See the examples above. Note, affirmations are most effective when stated in the first person (I/my), in the present tense, focus on desired outcomes, and evoke positive emotions.

I know they may not feel true straight away, but when you repeat these affirmations, again and again, you begin to believe in them.

Write your affirmation down, e.g. in your journal or on post-it notes around the house.

Lastly, but importantly, say your affirmation(s) regularly to yourself throughout the day. Repeat the same affirmation for at least 21 days to re-programme your mind with a recovery mindset.

Having a daily recovery affirmation is one thing I suggest you write in my Chronic Fatigue 90-Day Recovery Journals. These have been designed to help you become more aware of how your thoughts and actions impact your recovery so you can find it easier to feel better, cope better, and reclaim your life. Powerful affirmations

Healing affirmations are an empowering way to re-programme your mind and body for optimal health. But as with any other conscious interventions, they take time to change unconscious beliefs and emotional triggers.

To make them more potent, use them alongside techniques such as tapping, EFT, NLP, or self-hypnosis for instant lasting changes in how you think and feel. If you have deep-rooted negative beliefs, emotional triggers, or trauma, you may find it easier to overcome these with the help of an experienced coach or therapist.
