My Favourite Books of 2021

Love a good book? Here are my favourite books of 2021 – all written by fabulous female authors and are well worth checking out.*

Most years I share mainly non-fiction books but this year, as a reflection of where my attention has been, most of my favourite books of 2021 have been novels:

If Women Rose Rooted by Sharon Blackie

A wonderfully insightful and easy read that beautifully weaves together the core essence of being a woman, the evolution of womanhood, and calls for us to become the women the world needs of us now. Check it out <HERE>.

The Missing Sister by Lucinda Riley

The latest book my favourite series of historical novels that take you off on adventures all around the world. This one connected had me feeling more connected to my Irish roots. Well worth checking the whole series <HERE>.

Within Wicked Walls by Lauren Blackwood

Why is there a cold castle in the middle of the desert? Why do people who work there keep disappearing? Will Andromeda, a debtera (exorcist) hired to cleanse the castle of an evil dark force, be able to do and save the excentric hier she’s fallen for? A refreshing and thought provoking romance. Check it out <HERE>.

Northern Spy by Flynn Berry

A race against time to discover the truth about an IRA bombing without destroying family and community bonds. This kind of novel adds depth to my memory of troubling times but also had we questionning: what would I do in that situation? Check it out <HERE>.

To the Woman by Donna Ashworth

I discovered this book when I was looking for poems to read during the women’s circles I run. Packed with so many wise words and inpiring poems that get to the core of who we are, how we feel, and the potential within us all. A lovely book to dip into. Check it out <HERE>.

Lady of Fire by Melanie Frome

I didn’t think I liked fantasy novels until I read this one. Wow. A wonderful fast paced adventure as Lady Moireach MacRae escapes being married off only to discover her life is at risk by unknown forces. Get ready to ignite a fire deep within you to tap into your deepest desires and superpowers. I can’t wait for the next in the series. Check it out <HERE>.

The XX Brain by Dr Lisa Misconi

What an eye-opener this book was about so many different aspects of female health, gender medicine, and the differences between how male and female brains work. It felt as though I was thinking ‘everyone should know this’ constantly throughout the book. Check it out <HERE>.

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

Why did Michael smuggle a note to his wife just before he disappeared, asking her to protect her step-daughter? On a quest to discover the truth together their whole As the life she knew unravels, a whole other reality appears.   Check it out <HERE>.

The Color of Our Sky by Amita Trasi

I love novels that weave together a powerful story, different cultures, and periods of history. This is a beautiful story about childhood sisterhood and the lies people tell to protect their loved ones. As an adult, Tara returns to India to unocver the truth about her friend Mukta’s abduction. Check it out <HERE>.

The Perfect Lie by Jo Spain

Lots of twists and turns in this ‘all is not as it seems’ thriller. How did Erin find herself in this position: witnessing her husband jump to his death in front of his police colleagues to then be charged with murder? A great introduction to an author with lots more mysteries to read. Check it out <HERE>.

It’s only when I look back on my favourite books of 2021 I realise just how much more reading I’ve been doing and loving it.
