Invite Customer Donations

How can inviting customer donations help grow a business?

Today, I share a tip for growing your business through supporting charities and social causes by inviting your customers to make a donation when they are making a purchase.

There are a few ways in which you can invite your customers to make a donation to a cause which you support.

  1. In-Person
  • Have a donation box at your checkout, reception area, trade shows, events etc.
  • Ask people paying by card to add a donation to their payment, if you have the technology to do so
  1. Online

Again, it is possible to ask people to add a donation at the checkout when paying for goods and services online. This is something you may have seen when shopping on Amazon.

  1. On an invoice

When invoicing for goods or services, you can state at the bottom of your invoice that you are raising funds for a particular cause close to your heart. You invite your customers to pay an extra amount on top of what they have been invoiced, and you will find that often people pay it.

If you are comfortable asking customers to donate in this way, it can be a highly effective way of raising money for a cause close to you.
